Updated: Sep 11, 2021

Hello and welcome to an extensive list of all things travel and location related. Cue your inner rich grandparents, grab your passport and get driving, flying, boating, or whatever it is you do to get around.

Fifth Avenue

This is the major thoroughfare in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It stretches north from Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village to West 143rd Street in Harlem. It is considered one of the most expensive and elegant streets in the world. However, Miss Patty mentions standing on Fifth Avenue for the Thanksgiving Day Parade, but the parade actually starts at 77th Street and Central Park West, and ends in front of Macy’s Herald Square (which is 34th Street and 7th Avenue).

Brazil

Officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in both South America and Latin America. At 8.5 million square kilometers with over 211 million people, Brazil is the world’s fifth-largest country by area and the sixth most populous. Miss Patty mentions to the girls that this is not Brazil due to the fact they were starting to take their leotards off, implying that Brazilians can get a little crazy as far as layers of clothing goes.

Russia

Or the Russian Federation, is a transcontinental country located in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. This is mentioned in one of Rory’s smart Chilton classes. There’s going to be a lot of those in the future of this series so just be prepared.

New York

Every time I read the words New York, Alicia Keys' “Empire State of Mind” comes to mind. This city comprises 5 boroughs sitting where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean. At its core is Manhattan, a densely populated borough that’s among the world’s major commercial, financial and cultural centers. Its iconic sites include skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building and sprawling Central Park. Broadway theater is staged in neon-lit Times Square.

China

“China, wow.” It’s officially the People’s Republic of China and is a country in East Asia. It is the world’s most populous country, with a population of around 1.4 billion in 2019. Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, it is the world’s third or fourth-largest country by area.

Rome

Rome is the defining/starting line of impressing Lorelai (according to this episode). It is the capital city and a special comune of Italy as well as the capital of the Lazio region. The city has been a major human settlement for almost three millennia. With 2,860,009 residents, it is also the country’s most populated comune. (bucket list location!)

I appreciate you reading this far. If you're enjoying yourself, feel free to continue onto the next episode. No rules here. This is a fun space.
